A new sidewalk, corner ramp and boulevard fronting a fourplex on a corner lot in Kingsland, built by Symphony under our own agreement with the City of Calgary.
The existing City walk does not meet the City's current width requirement and is required to be brought into compliance as a condition of the redevelopment. Requirements of this nature can delay the completion of an otherwise finished project.
Symphony has assumed full responsibility for the work and is delivering a completed streetscape to the property line.
Scope of work
- Rebuilt curb and gutter, tied cleanly into the existing road
- A new corner wheelchair ramp with a detectable warning surface
- A refreshed driveway crossing
- A restored boulevard with fresh topsoil and sod
Outcome
Symphony is an indemnified sidewalk contractor with the City of Calgary, a standing that few builders hold and one that streamlines every stage of a right-of-way project. For the owner at 8004, it means a single contract, a single accountable team, and a completed sidewalk delivered without further involvement on their part. By keeping the entire scope under Symphony, rather than splitting it across separate consultants, agreements and subcontractors, the owner saves more than 50%. The finished streetscape will meet the full City of Calgary standard at approximately half the cost.
