Currie Window Covering Package
Currie Barracks, Calgary / 2025
Custom zebra shades for a park-facing residence, made to fit windows that standard blinds cannot.
A cordless cellular shade package specified across four levels of a south-facing inner-city residence.
A south backyard, open city views and a narrow 31-foot lot meant every window was doing two jobs at once: bringing in light and holding a sightline worth keeping. Blackout was the wrong answer almost everywhere, so the package was built around a light-filtering honeycomb fabric that softens direct sun without flattening the view behind it.
Top-down/bottom-up operation was specified in the principal rooms so the upper glass can be covered for glare and privacy while the lower sash stays clear. Head rails were sized to run continuously across the bay and picture windows rather than breaking at each sash, and the same fabric was carried onto the glazed entry and balcony doors so the elevation reads as one system from the street. Honeycomb was selected over flat roller stock for the thermal benefit on a heavily glazed Calgary facade.
